Effects of Protein Fractions and Ginsenosides from Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer on Substrate Phosphorylation by a Catalytic Fragment of Protein kinase C

Abstract
Abstract:
@EN Histone III is a substrate for in uitro phosphorylation by a catalytic fragment of protein kinase C. Protein kinase C-catalyzed phosphorylation of histone III was induced by 50 nM phrobol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA), and inhibited by
protein
fractions and the ginsenosides-Rb1, Rg1, and Rh2 from Panaxginseng C.A. Meyer. The protein fraction which was extracted with methanol consisted mainly of glycopeptides with molecular weights below 18 KDa. The protein fraction extracted with
acetone
consisted of 18 KDa polypeptides. Protein fractions and ginsenosides from Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer have antitumor effects sine the inhibition of protein kinase C is related to the supression of tumors.
